EXPLORE: WALLINGFORD BACK MINE

This Easter Weekend, my friend Adam and I drove across the Ottawa river to the Wallingford Back Mine in Quebec. (http://www.capitalgems.ca/wallingford-back-mine.html)

This grand mine is a nestled in a quiet hills of Quebec down Chemin de la Mine.

For those who are interested in visiting Wallingford Back Mine here's some neat tips for your trip!

You can park down the road from the mine at a little church. This makes it about a 20 minute walk to the mine. It then took us about 2 hours to explore the whole mine, taking our time to take lots of pictures.

The walk does have a couple of steep hills, so be prepared for some serious cardio! (It's really not that bad though and totally worth the effort)

Adam and I weren't sure what the ice conditions were (if they would be melted or not), but we went late March and all the ice was still solid.

You can also scale the fence in order to climb to the top of the mine. It's pretty cool to view the mine from the top and take in the enormity of it all (can you spy the man in my picture?).

I would love to visit this spot in the summer to go swimming!

Happy Easter!
