SUMMER IN NOVEMBER // FRONTENAC PP WEEKEND

This was probably our last backcountry camping weekend of the season.
A month ago or so Tam and Dana, Kevin's good friends invited us to go camping at Frontenac this November. Despite the early snow fall and saying we were done camping for the year we excitedly said  - YES! Luckily the weather forecast was in our favour and we got to experience summer in November.

We left work and hoped on the road to Frontenac Provincial Park. Kevin and I had a great trip here this summer and I was very much looking forward to coming back here. Dare I say, I think this may be my favourite camp site of the season (Low a close second since it's so much closer to home). Frontenac is still number one to me and worth the trek down to Kingston for a weekend away. I personally don't get service out in Frontenac so I was couldn't wait to unplug and recharge for the weekend.

It gets dark so early now that the time had rolled back - so we arrived at sunset just in time for some great views. We even saw a deer on the trail before putting in the canoe.

After finding Tam and Dana (they got there earlier in the day) we finished the day off around the fire.

We had a slow morning and got ready for a day of portaging after an oatmeal breakfast. Overall we did 23 km of portaging and canoeing!! It was a glorious day in the sun - to my surprise we were in t-shirts and wishing we had packed our shorts (like Kevin had - smart cookie).

Our next site was nice, it didn't face west so weren't expecting much. The campgrounds were busy so we took the sites we could and weren't mad about it. We enjoyed lunch and then got busy setting up the tents and chopping wood for our fire.

We ended up having an amazing sunset view through the trees. The whole campsite was covering in a cotton candy sky - I was obsessed!

It was certainly a great weekend - Tam and Dana were good company and sports! On our way out they actually got a leak in their canoe. We were able to patch it up with some duct tape and make our way home.

So thankful to have a partner with a group of lose friends who enjoy the outdoors! It's been a great summer and fall filled with adventure. I'm excited to see what we get up to moving into the winter.

I hope everyone enjoyed the 20+ degree weather this weekend!
